Indian Summer
Nothing can steal your heart away
Quicker than Indian Summer days,
When the sun is warm and the shadows are cool,
The lake water stands like a bright blue pool.
The warm sand begs you to bare your feet
The balmy air is meadow-sweet,
Leaves are falling from colorful trees,
And nature has moved in, merely to tease...
She comes with her warm days, just to betray...
For winter is only a breath away!

The men's group met for lunch in our new Rehab dining room for lunch! The guys were treated to Kentucky fried chicken! We enjoyed the fellowship and all the laughter! They can really tell some tales!

Signs and Symptoms of Dehydration

We've had 100 plus days for quite some time now and the weather person says no end in sight. Dehydration can sneak up on you or your loved one and right now our Texas heat is zapping all of us. Please be careful and see the information below from ehow Health.

"Aside from the earliest signs of fever and disorientation, an elderly person will likely present other signs of dehydration. They may have weakened muscles, decreased urination, increased heartbeat, sunken eyes and loosened skin on the forehead or sternum. If any of these symptoms occur in conjunction with each other, the person should be assessed by a doctor for dehydration."

Because we care - It's hot in Texas!

HIGHLIGHTS of Safety tips

Elderly people (65 years and older), infants and children and people with chronic medical conditions are more prone to heat stress.

Air-conditioning is the number one protective factor against heat-related illness and death. During conditions of extreme heat, spend time in locations with air-conditioning such as shopping malls, public libraries, or public health sponsored heat-relief shelters in your area.

Get informed. Listen to local news and weather channels or contact your local public health department during extreme heat conditions for health and safety updates

Drink cool, nonalcoholic beverages and increase your fluid intake, regardless of your activity level.
